Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry congratulates Philippines on Independence Day

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan congratulated the Philippines on the occasion of the country's Independence Day.

"Warm congratulations to the people and Government of the Republic of the Philippines as they celebrate Independence Day. Happy Independence Day, Philippines!" the ministry wrote on X.

The Philippines celebrates Independence Day annually on June 12. It was on this day in 1898 that Filipino General Emilio Aguinaldo declared the archipelago's independence from Spain after more than 300 years of colonial rule. This historic moment took place in the city of Cavite, where the national flag was raised for the first time, and the Philippine anthem was played.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the Philippines were established in the 1990s.
