Azerbaijan to host II Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary forum in 2026

The second Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan inter-parliamentary forum will be held in 2026 in Azerbaijan.

As Report informs with reference to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, this was announced by the Chairperson of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova at a media briefing in Khiva.

According to her, the forum is envisaged in the new roadmap for the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation for 2025-2026, signed today in Uzbekistan. The document includes a wide range of bilateral and multilateral activities.

Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that the current forum is an important stage in the development of bilateral relations, reflecting not only successful inter-parliamentary cooperation but also strengthening friendship and fraternal ties between the peoples of the two countries. She noted that friendship groups and inter-parliamentary commissions will continue to actively cooperate, contributing to the development of legislative dialogue and exchange of experience.

As part of the current forum, regulations for the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan were also signed, which, according to Sahiba Gafarova, will raise the level of interaction between the parliaments to a qualitatively new level and provide a permanent basis for implementing joint projects.

The Chairperson of the Milli Majlis expressed confidence that forums and cooperation between parliaments will contribute to further strengthening mutual understanding and developing ties for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
