Azerbaijan, Tajikistan hold 8th meeting of intergovernmental commission on trade

The 8th session of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan was held in Baku, as per Report.

According to Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers, the commission was co-chaired by the deputy prime ministers of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, Samir Sharifov and Usmonali Usmonzoda.

According to Sharifov, in 2025, trade turnover between the two countries increased by 84%, and strategic transit shipments grew by 50%. The significant potential for expanding economic cooperation was also noted.

Usmonzoda stated that trade ties between the two countries do not fully reflect the existing potential. He also expressed confidence that there is a strong political will to realize it.

The parties discussed cooperation in industry, investment, agriculture, energy, transport, tourism, and the humanitarian sphere. Tajik companies were invited to actively participate in Azerbaijan's business environment and take advantage of the industrial parks and the Alat Free Economic Zone. Sharifov noted that Tajikistan's active participation in Middle Corridor projects would expand regional cooperation.

Following the session, documents on expanding cooperation were signed.

It should be noted that on May 22, a business forum with the participation of entrepreneurs from both countries will be held in Baku.
