Azerbaijan's prosecutor general attends ECO meeting in Kazakhstan

Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev has attended the 7th meeting of the Prosecutors General of the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Kazakhstan, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office.
Addressing the event, Aliyev said Azerbaijan's digital transformation policy, initiated by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and identified as one of the country's strategic priorities, is currently being successfully continued under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
He noted that the Azerbaijan Digital Development Council, established in February this year and chaired by First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, aims to strengthen the country's technological potential and digital sovereignty and promote the transition to an innovation-driven economic model.
Aliyev highlighted the Electronic Prosecution Information System (EPIS), established by presidential decree in 2021, as one of Azerbaijan's major achievements in the field.
According to him, EPIS currently includes modules covering electronic document management, investigations, public prosecution, international legal cooperation, crime mapping and electronic inquiries. Several of these modules use artificial intelligence technologies. The system has also been integrated with the Electronic Government Information System.
During his visit, Aliyev also held a number of bilateral meetings with foreign counterparts.
At a meeting with an Iranian delegation headed by Prosecutor General Mohammad Kazem Movahedi-Azad, the Iranian official expressed particular gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the humanitarian assistance provided by Azerbaijan amid recent developments in the region.
The sides exchanged views on further developing cooperation between the prosecution authorities of the two countries, expanding professional experience and information sharing, and making more effective use of mutual legal assistance mechanisms.
They also stressed the importance of strengthening joint efforts to promote regional stability and security and combat terrorism, illicit drug trafficking and other forms of transnational crime.
During a separate bilateral meeting with a delegation led by Pakistan's Deputy Prosecutor General Umer Aslam Khan, the sides discussed the high-level relations between the two countries, prospects for developing cooperation between law enforcement agencies and continued mutual support within international organizations.
The meetings also included discussions on mutual legal assistance in criminal cases, extradition, combating money laundering, corruption-related crimes and other issues of mutual interest.
