Azerbaijan's Independence Day marked with official reception in Tbilisi

An official reception was held in Tbilisi on the occasion of the 108th anniversary of Azerbaijan's independence.

Report informs that Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Faig Guliyev, Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, MPs, government members, representatives of the diplomatic corps and public figures attended the event.

The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Georgia were played at the beginning of the event.

Speaking at the event, Faig Guliyev said Azerbaijan-Georgia relations are strategic in nature and noted that the first train as part of the restoration of the Baku-Tbilisi railway connection is an indicator of the development of cooperation between the two countries.

The diplomat also said Azerbaijan and Georgia share common historical values and are working together to strengthen stability and cooperation in the region.

Shalva Papuashvili, in turn, congratulated the Azerbaijani people on Independence Day.

He emphasized that relations between the two countries are developing based on the principles of mutual respect, sovereignty and strategic partnership.
