Azerbaijan's embassy in Astana marks sixth anniversary of Remembrance Day

An event dedicated to the sixth anniversary of Azerbaijan's September 27 Remembrance Day was held at the country's embassy in Astana.

According to Report's Kazakhstan bureau, diplomats, members of the public and representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora attended the event.

Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Kazakhstan Alimirzamin Asgarov said that on September 27, 2020, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces launched a counteroffensive in response to what he described as another military provocation by Armenia.

The diplomat said Azerbaijan's territorial integrity had been restored thanks to the courage of the Azerbaijani army and the determination of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.

He also highlighted the political and moral support Türkiye provided to Azerbaijan during the 44-day Patriotic War, saying the unity between Baku and Ankara had become an important factor for regional stability and security.

Türkiye's Ambassador to Kazakhstan Mustafa Kapucu also attended the event and congratulated the Azerbaijani army, state and people on the liberation of the territories.

"We express our condolences over the losses suffered by our Azerbaijani brothers. We hope that brotherly countries will never again have to experience such days," the diplomat said.

Participants observed a minute of silence in memory of Azerbaijan's martyrs, noting that their courage would remain forever in the memory of the Azerbaijani people.

The event also expressed condolences over the deaths of Kazakh servicemen during military exercises in the Caspian Sea on September 24. Their memory was honored with a minute of silence, and participants said they shared the grief of the brotherly Kazakh people.
