Azerbaijan, Russia discuss cooperation on climate change

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Russian Presidential Aide and Special Presidential Representative on Climate Issues Ruslan Edelgeriev, Report imforms.

Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the meeting focused on cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia in combating climate change, COP-related issues, and regional and international matters of mutual interest.

Bayramov briefed Edelgeriev on Azerbaijan's experience and achievements during its COP29 presidency, as well as the country's close cooperation with Australia, which will hold the COP31 presidency, and host country Türkiye.

The meeting also addressed bilateral cooperation on the Caspian Sea. In this context, the importance of intensifying the work of the bilateral working group established on Caspian Sea issues was emphasized.

The parties highlighted the importance of protecting the Caspian Sea's water resources and unique ecosystem, stressing the need to implement innovative technologies, including in agriculture, and to carry out joint projects in this area.

They also exchanged views on other bilateral issues of mutual interest.
