Azerbaijan, Oman discuss enhancing parliamentary ties

On June 24, Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, met with Khalid Bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council of Oman, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan to attend the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States in Baku, Report informs.

The meeting highlighted that close interaction between the parliaments of the two countries contributes significantly to the development of Azerbaijan-Oman relations both bilaterally and at the multilateral level.

The sides stressed the importance of mutual support within international platforms such as the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM PN) and the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC).

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova praised the Omani side's active participation in the activities of the NAM PN, established at the initiative of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Khalid Bin Hilal Al Maawali expressed his gratitude to his Azerbaijani counterpart for the excellent organization of the conference, highlighting the importance of the issues to be discussed during the event.

He also expressed Oman's interest in expanding relations with Azerbaijan, emphasizing the considerable potential for cooperation across various fields.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
