Azerbaijan, IGAD discuss expanding cooperation with African countries

Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev met with Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu Negewo.

According to Report, which cites Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the sides discussed cooperation between Azerbaijan and IGAD member states both bilaterally and within international platforms. They emphasized the importance of mutual visits and institutional mechanisms for maintaining political dialogue.

The parties also reviewed prospects for cooperation in the political and economic spheres, as well as in education, healthcare, climate issues, transport, communications, and public services.

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is a regional bloc in Africa comprising countries from the Horn of Africa, the Nile Valley, and the African Great Lakes region. Its headquarters are located in Djibouti.
