Azerbaijan, Belarus discuss food safety and veterinary cooperation

Chairman of the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan (AFSA) Goshgar Tahmazli has met with Belarusian Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food and Director of the Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision Ivan Smilgin.

According to Report, citing AFSA, the meeting focused on the current state and prospects for developing Azerbaijan-Belarus cooperation in food safety and veterinary medicine.

The sides also discussed recognition of the equivalence of their food safety systems, joint production of veterinary medicines and animal identification.

They considered organizing the production of the Rabisafe veterinary medicine in Azerbaijan and expanding cooperation with Belarus's BelAgroGen scientific and production center.

It was noted that AFSA has fully recognized the equivalence of Belarus's food safety system. At present, 123 Belarusian food facilities are registered in Azerbaijan's food safety registry.

The sides agreed to continue cooperation in food, veterinary and phytosanitary safety and expand the exchange of experience.
