Azerbaijan and Slovakia agree to hold joint economic working group meeting in autumn

Azerbaijan and Slovakia have agreed to convene a meeting of their joint working group on economic cooperation this autumn, according to the Slovak government website, Report informs.

Denisa Sakova, Slovakia's deputy prime minister and minister of economy, announced the agreement following the Azerbaijan-Slovakia Business Forum held in Baku on July 15. During the forum, officials from both nations reviewed strategies to expand trade relations, boost investment cooperation, and develop new joint projects.

Sakova emphasized that Azerbaijan stands as one of Slovakia's vital economic partners, noting that energy, infrastructure, logistics, digital industry, and advanced technologies represent promising areas for bilateral collaboration.

"The strategic partnership between our two countries creates opportunities for the further development of trade, investments, and the implementation of joint projects," Sakova said.

She stressed that energy security remains the key priority for Slovakia in its cooperation with Azerbaijan.

"Therefore, we are actively discussing solutions that will contribute to the diversification of natural gas supplies after 2027," Sakova stated. "Concurrently, we aim to further develop economic cooperation with Azerbaijan and create new opportunities for Slovak companies."

During her visit to Baku, Sakova held targeted talks with Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov. The discussions focused primarily on the diversification of natural gas supplies to Slovakia and fostering cooperation between the two nations' energy companies to secure concrete supply frameworks for the future.
