Azerbaijan, African Union planning joint summit

The African Union and Azerbaijan discussed holding a joint summit to expand cooperation, reads a statement by the African Union on X following a meeting between the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Ruslan Nasibov, Report informs.

The parties discussed strengthening relations between the African Union and Azerbaijan, including the prospect of convening an African Union-Azerbaijan summit to expand cooperation, reads the statement.

The talks also covered prospects for cooperation in the area of ​​civil service and public sector reform. Particular attention was paid to the exchange of experience, best practices, and institutional capacity building.

Furthermore, the parties exchanged views on current international issues, including the situation in the Middle East and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, emphasizing the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
