Arpadarai: Climate agenda can unite countries amid global tensions

The green and climate agenda can serve as a unifying force amid global tensions, conflicts and fragmentation, while regional cooperation will become increasingly important in addressing shared challenges, High-Level Climate Champion and member of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Nigar Arpadarai said.

According to Report, she made the remarks at Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026).

"If we look at the situation in the world as a whole, it is clear that we live in a world marked by distrust, conflicts and serious fragmentation. Yet in this environment, the green and climate agenda is genuinely unifying. Looking ahead in light of the geopolitical situation, one thing is clear: regional cooperation is extremely important, and I believe its importance will only grow," she said.

Arpadarai said countries should seek to address emerging challenges at the regional level.

"This is extremely important. Whatever happens, a third party should not be invited to resolve our own problems, whether they are economic, political or of any other nature," she added.
