Amir Sultanov: Treaty of Eternal Friendship confirms Baku and Tashkent's commitment to expanding cooperation

The state visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan is of historic significance and is accompanied by the signing of a substantial package of bilateral documents, Amir Sultanov, Head of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, said, according to Report's correspondent in Tashkent.

"I would like to emphasize that we are indeed witnessing an unprecedented historic visit by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan, during which very important documents - a substantial package of bilateral documents - were signed. The most important of these is the Treaty of Eternal Friendship, which confirms the commitment and firm political will of the heads of state to further strengthen and expand multifaceted cooperation between our countries," he said.

Sultanov noted that important economic documents were signed during the visit.

"First and foremost, these include a program to increase trade turnover to $1 billion, as well as a roadmap for implementing investment projects. In addition, the key socially significant document was the agreement on pension provision, which is aimed at ensuring the pension rights of citizens of the two countries," he said.

According to Sultanov, the agreement provides specific mechanisms for pension provision.

"This document provides specific mechanisms for the calculation, recalculation and payment of pensions to citizens of the two countries, thereby ensuring their pension rights when they engage in employment in Uzbekistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan," he emphasized.
