Ambassador: China attaches particular importance to cooperation with South Caucasus, Central Asia

China attaches great importance to the South Caucasus and Central Asia, regions with unique geographical advantages, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei said at the first Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2025), Report informs.
"The South Caucasus and Central Asia play a significant role both regionally and globally, possessing unique geographical advantages. This region (the South Caucasus) is located at the crossroads connecting Asia and Europe and has a solid foundation and potential to become an important transportation hub between them, making a unique contribution to trade, dialogue between civilizations, and the development of science and technology worldwide. China attaches great importance to this region and maintains friendly relations with all its countries," she said.
According to her, Beijing intends to further strengthen cooperation with the countries of the South Caucasus and Central Asia in areas such as trade and investment, transport connectivity, energy, green and digital innovation, and people-to-people exchanges.
"Today's international economic and trade system is undergoing profound changes. This requires constructive actions and international cooperation to jointly overcome challenges and promote common development and prosperity," the ambassador emphasized.
The diplomat also noted the high level of cooperation between Beijing and Baku, emphasizing that China and Azerbaijan are reliable partners.
"Under the strategic guidance and leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Ilham Aliyev, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Azerbaijan is developing rapidly, strengthening political trust and elevating practical cooperation to a new level," Lu Mei added.
