Ambassador: Azerbaijani soldiers to march on Red Square as symbol of country's victory and sovereignty

Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Russia, Rahman Mustafayev, met with officers and soldiers of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces' commando brigade parade unit, who arrived in Moscow on May 5 to take part in the solemn parade marking the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people's victory in World War II.

According to Report's Russian bureau, the ambassador described the participation of Azerbaijani servicemen in the parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II as a tribute to the memory of Azerbaijani fighters who died in that war.

The diplomat expressed confidence that Azerbaijani military personnel would represent the country with dignity at this important international event.

"Victory in World War II and in the Patriotic War is a source of pride and one of the main pillars of national memory for the Azerbaijani people," Mustafayev stated.

Speaking about Azerbaijan's victory in the Second Karabakh War, the diplomat emphasized that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army liberated the country's occupied territories, demonstrating high professionalism and precision.

Mustafayev noted that Azerbaijan, through its balanced foreign policy, contributes significantly to regional stability.

"We cooperate with all our neighbors, including Russia, on the basis of friendship and strategic partnership. Russia is an allied state for Azerbaijan, and today the importance of such relations is increasing in a changing world," he said.

Addressing the servicemen, the ambassador highlighted that, for the first time since Azerbaijan's victory in the 44-day Patriotic War of 2020, Azerbaijani troops will march in formation on Red Square.

"On May 9, you have the honor of carrying the Azerbaijani flag on Red Square. This is not just a parade—it is an opportunity to show the whole world our history, independence, and victory. Our troops will, for the first time, represent Azerbaijan on Red Square as a country that has fully restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty," Mustafayev emphasized.
