AIR Center official: Establishing renewable energy zones not enough for sustainable development

The creation of renewable energy zones alone is not sufficient for sustainable development; the overall concept of "green energy" must be developed, Shahmar Hajiyev, Head of Department at the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), said during the 13th session of the CICA Think Tank Forum in Baku.

Report quotes him as saying the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan has great potential in the field of renewable energy.

"For example, in Kalbajar and Lachin, there are opportunities for hydropower development, while in Gubadli there are possibilities for solar energy. For the green transition and sustainable development, international cooperation is of great importance. Companies such as Masdar, BP, and Acwa Power play an important role in this," he said.
