The new Asian order can only be established if women and men work together toward it, said Roza Bayramli, a lead consultant at the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), during a side event titled "Shaping the New Asian Order" held within the 13th CICA Think Tank Forum in Baku, Report informs.
Bayramli emphasized that women in Azerbaijan already hold senior positions in politics:
"In Central Asian countries, too, women play vital roles and are stepping toward an innovative future. Women are a symbol of social resilience. Unfortunately, their contributions are not always fully recognized. The reality is that women must actively participate in shaping the new Asian order."
She noted that in some Asian countries, women account for 20% of parliamentarians, while others have high numbers of women in senior positions.
Bayramli added that peace and security, economic development, and sustainability are key pillars for the future, and women must be part of each:
"They advocate for the protection of families and communities. In Azerbaijan, women have been actively involved in post-conflict community building. They are also playing a dynamic role in reshaping the economy. To address the existing challenges, we must ensure access to quality education for all and eliminate harmful stereotypes."
She concluded by saying that the voices of women must be heard across the entire CICA platform and that space should be made for open discussion on these issues.
