Morocco continues to implement an urban policy model that emphasizes sustainable development, the right to decent housing, and adaptation to climate change, Adib Benbrahim, Morocco's Secretary of State for Housing, said at a ministerial roundtable during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), according to Report.
"By 2050, more than half of the world's population will live in cities, and in Africa, this figure will be even higher," he stated.
He emphasized that in the housing sector, this has been reflected in expanding access to housing and implementing systemic reforms.
"This policy is based on the right to decent housing and an integrated approach to urban development," Benbrahim said.
The minister also cited specific results of the policy, including the elimination of slums and the construction of social housing.
"More than 520,000 social housing units have been built, and over 100,000 households have received support through digital programs," he noted.
