Abbas Abbasov: BIG, International Sikh Federation to ink co-op memo

The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) and the International Sikh Federation will sign a memorandum of cooperation that will govern academic collaboration between the parties, BIG Executive Director Abbas Abbasov told journalists, Report informs.

"We (BIG - ed.) have decided to strengthen the protection of the rights of ethnic minorities through institutional and documented mechanisms, including this memorandum," he said.

Abbasov recalled that the organization began collaborating with representatives of the Sikh community in 2025.

"In 2026, initial contacts were established and preliminary negotiations were held with representatives of the Dalit community. Next month, we plan to publicly announce joint projects with Dalits, who, unfortunately, have faced repression and discrimination by the Indian government for many years. Their population already numbers approximately 320 million, yet discrimination continues," the executive director added.
