The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) implements various international projects within the framework of programs dedicated to the consequences and crises caused by colonial and neocolonial policies, stated the Executive Director of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), Abbas Abbasov, in a comment to a Report correspondent on the sidelines of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
According to him, such projects have been implemented since 2019:
"Today's event, held within the framework of WUF13, is dedicated to colonial injustice and the housing crisis, and tomorrow's event is dedicated to the role of youth in urbanization."
Abbasov noted that the first official meeting of the Global South Youth Platform will be held in Baku in the near future:
"Currently, the main focus is on preparing these two events. When the global community talks about colonial and neocolonial policies, it focuses more on political consequences and crises, whereas colonialism causes economic, cultural, religious, and environmental damage. The housing crisis, mentioned in the context of urbanization, is one of the key elements generating these consequences."
