The Azerbaijan national minifootball team fought until the end at the European Championship (2026 EMF Euro) in Slovakia thanks to the support of its fans.
Speaking to Report's correspondent in Bratislava, team member Vusal Isayev shared his thoughts after Azerbaijan claimed the title:
"I thank everyone who supported us in the stands and back home. We won the European Championship gold medal for the second time, right after becoming world champions. It was very tough. After the group stage, we faced both world and European champions in the bracket. We played very difficult matches. Seeing the fans' support gave us strength and inspired us to fight until the end," Isayev said.
He noted that the hardest match was against Serbia, the defending European champion: "We couldn't show our best game. The opponent analyzed us very well and was physically strong. But after beating Serbia, my belief in becoming champions grew even stronger."
Azerbaijan went on to defeat Ukraine 2–0 in the final, securing its second European Championship title.
