VAR to be used in Champions League

Baku. 22 August. REPORT.AZ/ UEFA is aiming to introduce video assistant referees (VAR) from the quarter-finals of the Champions League this season, Report informs citing The Times.
So, the staff at European football’s governing body hope this system will prevent serious errors of referees.
This issue will be discussed at the meeting of the European Club Association (ECA) next week. Final decision will be made at the meeting of UEFA Executive Committee in late September. Use of VAR will lead to cancellation of linesmen. UEFA may use VAR in Euro 2020. However, this idea is still being considered.
VAR has been used in World Cup 2018 and national championship of several countries.
