UEFA Champions League: Qarabag suffers heavy defeat to Newcastle in Baku

Azerbaijan's Qarabag FK played its first match in the UEFA Champions League play-off stage.

According to Report, the team coached by Gurban Gurbanov lost 1–6 against England's Newcastle United F.C.

The match, held at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium in Baku, saw the visitors' goals scored by Anthony Gordon (3rd, 32nd penalty, 34th, 45+1 penalty), Malick Thiaw (9th), and Jacob Murphy (72nd).

Qarabag's only goal came in the 55th minute from Elvin Jafarguliyev.

The return leg will take place in England on the night of February 25 at 00:00 Baku time (GMT+4).
