The Russian national football team may be removed from Euro 2020.
Report informs that this option was not excluded by Yury Ganus, Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) director general. He said there is a chance that St. Petersburg will not host the continental championship games: "Currently, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency is in conditional compliance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA - red.). In order to save it, we had to fulfill two tasks. First, take experts to the Moscow laboratory and transfer the electronic database to them by December 31, 2018, the second is we had to provide a doping test list by June 30, 2019 for the transfer of material information to the WADA Research Department."
In the European Championship, which will be held from June 12 to July 12 next year, Saint Petersburg is to host 3 group stages and one 1/4 final matches.
Notably, earlier, the relevant WADA Committee recommended the Executive Committee to exclude Russia from international competitions for 4 years. This means that the Russian athletes would perform under the neutral flag at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics and also chances that the national team will not participate in the 2022 World Cup.
