Emin Mahmudov becomes top scorer of Azerbaijani national team

Azerbaijan national team captain Emin Mahmudov, having scored a goal in the 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Ukraine, became the record holder for the number of goals scored for the national team, Report informs.

The midfielder brought the number of his goals for the national team to 15.

He renewed the 21-year record of Gurban Gurbanov, who currently coaches Qarabag FK.

The coach scored 14 times in 68 matches for the national team between 1992 and 2005. Emin Mahmudov, who has been playing for the Azerbaijan national team since 2016, reached the 15-goal mark in his 56th match.
