Azerbaijani Premier League not to postpone matches - OFFICIAL

"The operative headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers did not make any decision to cancel mass sporting events in the country. The matches of the Azerbaijani Premier League, I Division, and Azerbaijan Cup will continue in the same way," Head of the Professional Football League's Press and Public Relations Department Aslan Shahgeldiyev told Report.

Shahverdiyev was commenting on whether or not the matches of the Premier League might be postponed amid coronavirus fears.

According to him, the structure held a meeting on this issue and took examples from other countries.

"For example, Italy, where coronavirus is spread wider, canceled only some matches. Other neighboring countries regularly continue the championship. For now, we have no plans to postpone the games. We may consider these issues if there is any problem holding matches (trips, medical, security) and teams file personal appeals."

AFFA earlier suspended matches in all leagues due to coronavirus.
