Azerbaijan coach praises team after second European title

Azerbaijan's national minifootball team played under a demanding schedule at the European Championship in Slovakia.

Report's correspondent dispatched to Bratislava informs that the team's head coach, Elshad Guliyev, said this at a press conference.

The specialist was speaking after Azerbaijan defeated Ukraine 2-0 in the final of the European Championship in Slovakia.

"It was a magnificent tournament. I congratulate the European Minifootball Federation. The efforts of the organizers are undeniable. I congratulate our people and my team on winning the title. We played under a tough schedule and faced strong opponents, which tired the team. We went into the final fatigued. I especially congratulate the players for completing a magnificent final," he said.

Guliyev added that Ukraine also had a strong squad.

"The Ukrainian national team have good players. They did not play badly today either. We had done a lot of work before coming to the tournament. We knew the European Championship would be difficult. We did not expect to reach the final after playing against such strong teams. This title makes me doubly happy. In our first championship, we played against easier teams," he said.

Azerbaijan's national minifootball team have become European champions for the second time in their history.
