In the late afternoon, the world price of gold fell again after exceeding $1,910 an ounce for the first time since June 6, as investors again turn their attention to the plans of the US Federal Reserve System (FRS), Report informs about the auction data.
Thus, the price of April futures for gold on the New York Comex exchange fell by $2, or 0.12%, to $1,897.55 per troy ounce. March silver futures fell 0.42% to $23.89 an ounce.
Earlier on Monday, gold topped $1,910 an ounce for the first time since June 6. The demand for gold as a safe-haven asset has grown in the light of growing foreign political tensions in the world. And over the past week, gold has risen in price by more than 3%.
At the same time, analysts believe that the pressure on the price of gold is now again exerted by expectations of a tightening of the Fed's monetary policy.
"Prices could fall to $1,600 an ounce as historic relationships with US Treasury yields, which have already risen about 60 basis points this year, are rebounding," said Capital Economics analysts, quoted by Bloomberg.
