Gold and silver prices fall to lowest levels since March 23

Exchange prices for gold and silver declined, with quotes falling below $4,200 and $64 per troy ounce respectively for the first time since March 23.

According to the trading data, cited by Report, the August gold futures contract on the New York COMEX exchange dropped by $58.78 from the previous close, or 1.37%, to $4,227.62 per troy ounce.

Earlier in the morning, the price briefly fell to a low of $4,195.51, dropping below $4,200 for the first time since March 23.

At the same time, the July silver futures contract fell by 1.12% to $64.513 per ounce. During trading, it reached a low of $63.55, also falling below $64 for the first time since March 23.

Since the beginning of June, the US dollar index (the exchange rate against a basket of six major trading partner currencies) has strengthened by about 1%, holding near the 100-point level.
