International rating agency Fitch Ratings expects Azerbaijan's International Bank of Azerbaijan (ABB) to complete its acquisition of a controlling stake in Uzbekistan's Davr Bank by the fourth quarter of 2026.
Fitch said the planned acquisition of the small Uzbek lender is expected to have a neutral impact on ABB's credit profile and is in line with the bank's strategy to diversify its business and expand into higher-yielding markets.
The agency noted that ABB, Azerbaijan's largest bank, held a 25% share of the country's banking assets and a 24% share of its loan portfolio at the end of the first half of 2026.
ABB CEO Abbas Ibrahimov has said the bank's investment in the acquisition will exceed $100 million. Davr Bank has been operating in Uzbekistan since September 2001.
