EIB plans to increase global financing for affordable housing

The European Investment Bank supports increasing financing for affordable housing, Head of Housing, Cities and Regions at the EIB Luis Hebrero Rodriguez said during a panel discussion at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

According to Report, Luis Hebrero Rodriguez stated that the housing sector is currently at a critical turning point.

"The issue of housing affordability is global in scale and affects every country. The lack of access to sustainable and affordable housing is truly a universal challenge," he noted.

Rodriguez said that last year the EIB allocated around €5 billion to support the housing sector out of its total financing portfolio of €100 billion, adding that the bank intends to further increase these investments.
