The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) plans to begin implementing green city development projects in sub-Saharan Africa, Lyza Rossi, EBRD Sustainable Business and Infrastructure, Climate Strategy and Implementation Specialist, said at the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Regional Group panel discussion at WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.
She noted that the EBRD recently began working in sub-Saharan Africa, but the implementation of green city development action plans in the region is still in the preparatory stage.
"We haven't yet begun working with cities in this area, but we plan to," she noted.
Rossi emphasized that a significant portion of the bank's activities in this area are currently concentrated in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region.
"I already mentioned the figure of $7 billion, of which $3.6 billion, or approximately half, represents the bank's direct investments," the EBRD representative stated.
