Dubai Customs to partake in WCO exhibition in Azerbaijan

A Dubai Customs delegation headed by its Director-General Ahmed Mahboob Musabih is in Baku, Azerbaijan, to take part in the World Customs Organisation, WCO IT/TI Conference and Exhibition, Report informs citing Emirates News Agency.
This year’s event, which takes place from 12th to 14th June 2019, is themed, 'New technologies for SMART borders – New opportunities for Trade, Travel and Transport. It will explore implications of the digital world on Customs and other Government agencies in the future.
Dubai Customs is taking part in this exhibition along with major participants including South Korean, Maltese, Italian, Chinese, Dutch, and German Customs departments, plus representatives of big world firms including Huawei, S2 Global and McKinsey, among others.
"Participating in this global exhibition is part of our commitment towards more excellence and success, and comes in support of our leading position in coordinating security efforts with other customs departments and law enforcement authorities," Musabih said. "For the first time, the WCO has merged its two major public-private sector events that contribute to the shaping of customs technology-related initiatives. This makes this year’s event of special importance to all participants."
The exhibition will showcase private sector and governments’ most recent technological developments that will provide new capabilities and opportunities and impact how customs facilitates trade and performs its regulatory tasks. It will also seek potential areas of synergy amongst relevant stakeholders at national, regional and international level.
