Compensation for banks under liquidation in Azerbaijan exceeds $1B

As of July 1, 2026, approximately 1.73 billion manats (just over $1.01 billion) in compensation have been paid across 19 banks under liquidation in Azerbaijan, according to Sevinj Salimova, representative of the Public Relations Department of the Azerbaijan Deposit Insurance Fund, Report's correspondent in Shamakhi informs.
Speaking during the Dialogue and Cooperation Forum organized on the occasion of National Press Day, Salimova noted that by the reporting date, the number of depositors who received compensation had reached 63,888.
She added that currently, in active banks, 83% of deposits held by individuals are insured, while 17% are uninsured: "About 99.7% of all depositors, or 11,574 people, are insured, while 0.1%, or 600 people, are uninsured."
According to the current official exchange rate, $1 is equal to 1.7 Azerbaijani manats.
