CBA: Azerbaijan's strategic reserves cover 41 months of imports

Azerbaijan's strategic foreign exchange reserves are sufficient to cover 41 months of imports, Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Governor Taleh Kazimov said.

According to Report, Kazimov made the remarks at the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku.

He said Azerbaijan holds investment-grade sovereign ratings from two rating agencies - Fitch and Moody's.

"Along with our strong macroeconomic fundamentals and financial stability, these ratings provide an important foundation for investor confidence. This confidence is supported by Azerbaijan's macroeconomic resilience," Kazimov said.

He noted that the manat exchange rate has remained stable since 2017.

"As of the end of August, Azerbaijan's total strategic reserves amounted to $90.8 billion, exceeding the value of annual gross domestic product. Strategic reserves are also 3.5 times larger than broad money supply in manats," he said.

Kazimov added that external public debt stands at just 6% of GDP.

"At the same time, dollarization has continued to decline, with the share of foreign currency deposits held by resident individuals falling to a historic low of 25.8%," he said.
