Azerbaijan’s securities market grows by 4%

In the first half of 2023, transactions worth 8,510.3 million manats ($5.01 billion) were carried out in the securities market of Azerbaijan, 3.5% more than last year, Report informs, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
Of this, 3.487 billion manats ($2.05 billion) were formed in the primary market (-25.2%), and 5.023 billion manats ($2.95 billion) were formed in the secondary market (+41%).
Some 5,582 (+14.2%) deals were concluded in the securities market during the reporting period, with the primary market accounting for 1,204 deals (+25.7%) and the secondary market for 4,378 (+11.5%).
Government securities dropped 28.4% to 3.184 billion manats ($1.87 billion), or 37.4%, of transactions carried out in the first six months of 2023, corporate securities rose by 75.2% to 1.397 billion manats ($0.82 billion), or 16.4%, and repo operations went up 32% to 3.929 billion manats ($2.31 billion), or 46.2%.
Over the past six months, 1,407, or 25.2%, of the deals were concluded on government securities (+40.4%), 1,825, or 32.7%, on corporate securities (-24.7%), and 2,350, or 42.1%, on repo operations (+61%).
