Azerbaijan repaid nearly AZN 1 billion in debt in 1H2026

In the first half of 2026, 5.6% of Azerbaijan's state budget expenditures, amounting to 944.8 million manats (over $555.7 million), were directed toward servicing public debt and obligations.

According to Report, citing the country's Ministry of Finance, this figure is 8.05% lower compared to the same period last year.

During the six months, payments included 275.9 million manats (approximately $162.3 million) for internal public debt (covered interest), and 668.9 million manats (approximately $393.5 million) for external public debt – of which 494.2 million manats (just over $290.7 million) covered principal and 174.7 million manats (nearly $102.8 million) covered interest.

Azerbaijan's 2026 state budget envisaged more than 2.457 billion manats (approximately $1.445 billion) for debts and obligations.
