Azerbaijan received $748.5 million in money transfers from abroad in the first half of this year, while $207.9 million was transferred from Azerbaijan to foreign countries, Samir Nasirli, Director of the Statistics Department at the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), told a press conference.
He noted that compared with the same period last year, incoming transfers increased by 40.2%, while outgoing transfers decreased by 12.7%.
The CBA official also said that Azerbaijan's secondary income balance recorded a surplus of $525 million in January-June, largely supported by remittances.
"Funds received through money transfer systems come from countries including Russia, Georgia, Türkiye and the United States, as well as other countries. Transfers also come from Middle Eastern countries. However, we are not currently seeing a significant increase in transfers from those countries. In other words, against the backdrop of the US-Iran conflict, we are not seeing particularly large amounts of money entering the country through money transfer systems," Nasirli added.
