Azerbaijan may introduce differentiated water tariffs – EXCLUSIVE

In the future, Azerbaijan plans to introduce differentiated tariffs on water for different categories of users, Rafig Aslanov, head of the State Service for Monitoring the Protection of Water Resources, told Report.

According to him, the aim is to ensure a fair distribution between low-income families and entrepreneurs who consume more water.

"This is not about raising prices, but about introducing distinctions between consumer categories. The decision on increasing tariffs lies within the competence of the relevant authorities," he emphasized.

In his view, priorities also include preventing inefficient use of water resources, strengthening control over transboundary rivers, proper accounting of reservoirs and environmental protection, as well as educating the public and business entities.
