Azerbaijan joins talks on expanding Turkic green finance cooperation

Shahin Mahmudzada, Director General of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), has taken part in the second meeting of the Turkic Green Finance Council in Astana, Kazakhstan.

According to Report, citing the CBA, Mahmudzada briefed participants on initiatives being implemented to develop green finance in Azerbaijan and stressed the importance of regional cooperation in strengthening the necessary infrastructure and capacity in this area.

The meeting focused on the development of green and sustainable finance in member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), as well as next steps and proposals for promoting nature-based solutions and regional cooperation.

A communiqué was signed at the end of the meeting reflecting the expansion of the Council"s areas of activity.

The CBA joined the Council in 2024.

The Council"s main objective is to provide member organizations with advice and consultation on promoting green and sustainable finance, as well as investments that take environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into account.
