Participants in the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye-Bulgaria Green Energy Corridor initiative plan to begin a preliminary feasibility study for the project this year, Bulgarian Deputy Energy Minister Kiril Temelkov said during the Baku Energy Week, Report informs referring to the Bulgarian Ministry of Energy.

He stated that the project, initiated in 2024 by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Bulgaria, Ilham Aliyev and Rumen Radev, will expand opportunities for the transmission and trade of renewable electricity between the two regions.

"We are working intensively on its implementation and plan to begin a preliminary feasibility study this year together with our partners from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Georgia," he said.

Temelkov also discussed the project's implementation at a meeting with Azerbaijani Deputy Energy Minister Orkhan Zeynalov.

"The parties confirmed their commitment to the next steps in implementing the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye-Bulgaria energy corridor: initiating an intergovernmental agreement between the four countries along the project route and developing a detailed roadmap for its preparation and implementation," the statement reads.

In April 2025, the energy ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, and Bulgaria signed a memorandum on cooperation in green energy, thereby launching the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye-Bulgaria energy corridor project.
