Wind power generation in Azerbaijan surges 21.8 times in January-August 2026

Wind power plants in Azerbaijan generated 726.7 million kWh of electricity in January-August 2026, Report informs referring to the State Statistics Committee.
This is 21.8 times more than in the first eight months of 2025.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan produced 17.887 billion kWh of electricity, which is 2.4% less than in the first eight months of 2025. Out of this volume, commercial electricity accounted for 17.376 billion kWh (a 1.9% decrease).
Of the total volume, hydropower plants accounted for 2.498 billion kWh (a 10.7% increase), and thermal power plants accounted for 13.549 billion kWh (an 8.8% decrease). Another 154.9 million kWh of electricity was generated from biomass and waste (a 5.6% increase).
During the reporting period, solar power plants generated 446.2 million kWh of electricity, which is 9.4% more than the figure for January-August 2025.
