Volume of Azerbaijani gas exports to Romania in 1Q23 revealed

Romania's Romgaz S.A. company will import up to 300 million cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan by April 1, 2023, Report informs, citing ICIS.

From January 1 through March 31, 2023, the daily supply is expected to be up to 4.2 million cubic meters.

Deliveries are carried out on the basis of the agreement signed between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Romgaz S.A. for the supply of spot volumes in the winter months.

Gas will be delivered from Turkiye to the Greek Virtual Trade Point (VTP). Then it will be sent to Bulgaria via the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector (IGB) and then to Romania from the connection point on the Trans-Balkan corridor.

The Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) gas pipeline was put into commercial operation in early October. IGB supplies Bulgaria with gas produced at the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. The state company Bulgargaz EAD signed a contract with the Shah Deniz consortium to obtain 1 billion cubic meters of gas from the Shah Deniz-2 field. Azerbaijani natural gas will satisfy 25-30% of Bulgaria's needs.
