The UK government will hold emergency talks with energy chiefs on Monday amid fears that rising wholesale gas prices will push up bill costs, Report informs about it with reference to The Times newspaper.
The country's energy companies have warned of a "national crisis" in the country threatened by higher gas prices. London-based Good Energy, EDF, and trade organization Energy UK have demanded urgent government intervention due to unprecedented price levels.
The Times points out that wholesale gas prices are rising due to cold weather, "low gas export volumes" from Russia, and the suspension of several reactors at nuclear power plants in France.
