Turkmenistan, Malaysia sign energy cooperation agreements

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim held talks in Ashgabat, Report informs via Orient.tm.
The two sides signed a package of documents aimed at developing cooperation in the oil, gas, and other sectors.
Berdimuhamedov noted that Malaysia's Petronas company has invested about $12 billion in Turkmenistan's oil and gas industry during its years of operation in the country. He emphasized that cooperation with the company has enabled the implementation of several major projects on Turkmenistan's Caspian Sea shelf.
The Malaysian PM, in turn, stated that Kuala Lumpur seeks to diversify relations with Turkmenistan.
"Future economic cooperation will focus on high-tech projects in artificial intelligence, scientific research, digitalization, and semiconductor production. Malaysia also possesses advanced expertise in these areas," Ibrahim said.
