Türkiye eyes greater energy role in Africa, Middle East and Central Asia

Türkiye is currently working on a new energy architecture.

Report informs that Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said this at the 31st Baku Energy Forum.

According to him, this includes renewable energy, energy efficiency, upstream investments in oil and gas, and the development of the Sakarya gas field.

"At the same time, we aim to be more active outside Türkiye as well - in regions such as Africa, Libya, Somalia, the Middle East and Central Asia," he said.

He noted that nuclear energy would also be placed at the very center of the strategy.

"This is because we aim to increase the electrification of Türkiye's economy. Electrification will therefore become the main trend in our market, but we want to combine this with our critical minerals strategy. We have discovered major rare earth deposits and want to become a producer, as well as integrate this into the value chain," he said.
