Turkic states consider joint green energy projects

Member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) are considering joint projects in the green economy and renewable energy sectors, said OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev following the second meeting of the Turkic Council on Green Finance in Astana, Report's Kazakhstan bureau informs.

According to him, the initiative to establish the Council was put forward by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

"Today, representatives of our countries presented their achievements in green economy and renewable energy. Progress is being observed in this area across all states," the OTS Secretary General said, adding that the meeting was productive.

He noted that the main focus of the meeting was developing the green economy and attracting investment in environmental projects. Representatives of the participating countries exchanged experience and discussed possible areas for joint work.

Omuraliev stressed that OTS countries are actively developing solar and wind energy and making significant investments in renewable energy sources.

According to the Secretary General, cooperation within the Council is not limited to information exchange. The parties intend to develop joint projects and attract funds and international financial institutions to finance them.

"Countries share their experience and identify areas where they can work together and promote common projects. We are also discussing mechanisms for attracting funding through funds and international financial institutions," Omuraliev added.
