Three new projects are being developed as part of Azerbaijan-Türkiye energy cooperation, Türkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said at the 5th Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum held in Baku, Report informs.
"Last year, we established a very important new connection point with the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline. We also launched the operation of exporting natural gas from Azerbaijan to Syria via swap by connecting the natural gas transmission line to Syria through Kilis. This was realized at a ceremony held last year with your participation, and more than 1 billion cubic meters of gas has been delivered to Syria to date. These are truly very important projects. Likewise, SOCAR exports gas to 16 countries, not only to Europe through Türkiye via TANAP, but also through gas delivered via Bulgaria," he said.
Bayraktar noted that more than 100 billion cubic meters of gas has been transported through TANAP since its establishment.
"It is an important breakthrough that this year the volume of gas transported through TANAP since its establishment has reached 100 billion cubic meters. Thus, this is also a very important turning point in our relations. Of course, at a time when the world is becoming electrified and we are entering the age of electricity, electricity has begun to come more to the forefront in our relations. In particular, as you mentioned, we are working on three very important projects," he said.
