SOCAR vice president attends discussions on methane emissions reduction in New York

SOCAR Vice President Afgan Isayev participated in a number of events in New York, the United States, where methane emissions reduction and decarbonization were discussed, Report informs, citing SOCAR.

As part of New York Climate Week, Isayev participated in a roundtable organized by the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) and S&P Global on "Accelerating Methane Emissions Reduction." Discussions focused on large-scale methane emissions reduction, including existing challenges, successful practices, the role of regulatory mechanisms, and expanding international partnerships.

Isayev also participated in the World Economic Forum's "Impact on Sustainable Development" meetings held as part of the UN General Assembly. At a meeting of sustainability leaders, participants discussed the role of technology in accelerating sustainable development, the implementation of innovative solutions, and the contribution of business to the climate agenda.

The SOCAR official also participated in an event titled "Powering Growth in the New Economy." The event focused on the growing energy demand of the new economy, powering sustainable development, and adapting energy systems to new economic realities.

The vice president also took part in a leaders' roundtable titled "Practical Ways to Access Capital for Operational Decarbonization in the Oil and Gas Industry." The discussions covered financing the decarbonization of oil and gas operations, access to investment resources, and financial mechanisms that could accelerate emissions reductions.

Isayev also attended events organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center as part of the UN General Assembly. He participated in discussions titled "Industrial Zones: Sustainability by Design" and "Scaling Next-Generation Energy Solutions | Scaling AI for Energy."

Speaking at a meeting of the Global Methane Hub, Afgan Isayev addressed international initiatives to reduce methane emissions, the implementation of innovative technologies and financial mechanisms, and the expansion of partnerships in this area. He also provided information on projects implemented by SOCAR to reduce methane and other greenhouse gas emissions through the use of advanced technologies.
